Trying To Contain A Fire, The Firemen Heard Noises. They Were SHOCKED When They Found This.
A fire on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula destroyed 193,000 acres of forest. Firefighters were bulldozing to help contain the fire when they heard some yipping noises coming from nearby.
What they found is so precious.
Brian Nichols and Christa Kennedy from The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge followed the sounds right to the wolf den.
They helped pull out all of the wolf pups. 🙂
They attempted to find the wolf parents, but they abandoned the pups after the fire.
I think they appreciated the firefighters and Wildlife Refuge saving their lives. 🙂
The pups were dehydrated so they were given water and glucose.
They were also filled with porcupine quills, probably from a porcupine trying to hide from the fire in the same den as the pups.
Alaska Department of Fish and Game and refuge personnel removed them from the area and took them to the Anchorage Zoo. Here they will spend a few months regaining their health before finding permanent residence at the Minnesota Zoo.
It’s great to see such loving care put into wild animals! While it’s sad that the parents abandoned the pups, they will live happy and healthy lives from here on out. 🙂
