A five-year-old boy named Ethan Fenton was outside playing with his younger brother when a bully approached and knocked him to the ground. Ethan’s mother, Sharon Fenton, was inside watching and saw what happened. She came running to help when all of a sudden the family cat appeared out of nowhere and pounced on the bully. The bully was so shaken up by this that he ran away crying.
Ever since the incident, Smudge has been on guard duty. The family cat sleeps right outside the door of Ethan’s bedroom every single night.
“I actually feel so much safer knowing Smudge is around after seeing him defend him like that,” says Sharon. “He is a big part of the family and he is more of a brother to the boys than a cat.”
