A sad dog returned to the shelter gets new hope after her kennel photo goes viral. The family sent the dog back after her old food guarding issues resurfaced in their home. Feeling she wasn’t fit to be around their children, they did what they felt was right.
Lana was a little runt when rescued from a high-kill shelter in Mexico.
Being the runt of the litter, she learned to compete for food and therefore had some guarding issues. But Mighty Mutts trained her to trust humans and they felt she was ready for a forever home.
After all she had gone through, they celebrated when she finally found her forever home. But her guarding issues resurfaced in an unfamiliar environment and the family returned her to the shelter labeling her unfit to be around children.

Lana was crushed when returned to the place she knew all too well. For the entire day she wouldn’t move, make eye contact, eat or wag her tail.
Over time, she began to heal and trust her human trainers again. This is when Mighty Mutts decided to not let her story go untold. The sad picture of Lana in her kennel went viral and garnered interest from all over.
Lana is great with other animals and great on a leash, but is shy and struggles with the old food guarding issues. Now in foster care, she hopes to find a home that suits her well.
