Colt the service dog is shown here responding to his owner’s pass out spell (syncope) by getting her into position 15 minutes before it even happens. He will lick her hands and listen to her heartbeat, and Janaye is able to come back around much faster because of his actions.
Words from the owner herself: “Hi I am Janaye, a 23yr old female. Service dog Colt and weim/lab alerts and responds to seizures as well as pass out spell (syncope) I DO NOT have Pots. I pass out because of my TBI, and my heart issues cause by my seizures. This is how he is trained to respond to a pass out spell. He alerts 15mins or so beforehand, giving me enough time to get in a safe place and lay down. We will get into pass out position (description and shown in video) He will then lick my hands when I pass out and listen to my breathing and heart beat to make sure nothing is wrong. When I start to come to he will do DPT (deep pressure therapy) and lick my face, this helps bring me back around much faster. I am able to live a semi normal life because of my service dog. Not all disabilities are visible. I shared this in hopes of bringing awareness to that, and also that service dog can be doing a life saving job that may not be Apparent to someone on the outside and they should be left alone to do their life saving jobs, do not distract a service dog in anyway, no petting, talking to them or staring at them. The dog has a job to do. Please do not judge this video, it took a lot for me to post such a personal moment.”
